In case you are using the Bastard, you need to do short bursts because the bullet spread is crazy. Headshots work well and the silenced revolver is perfect for that if you are not in range for the throwing knife. Overtime, I found myself using a Shambler much more frequently against mutants and a silenced Revolver when I wanted to be stealth. Nosalies, if I remember well, die with 2 shotgun shots, so you could either get the Duplet for fast reload and being able to shoot two at once or the Shambler, which gives you 6 rounds that you can shoot quickly, but the reload is slow. Sometimes, a different gun can solve the problem.
